Muslim Map - How it all started |
| A long time ago, in a galaxy far far way...haha just kidding. Well, I wish I had some
juicy story to tell you. But unfortunately, the inception of Muslip map formulated in my head
on a day much like any other day. There was a meeting in the morning about sales reports, followed
by a few hours of coding and lunch. And as I sat in my cube that day, with a box of biryani in front,
filling up the nostrils of my co-workers with the aroma of garam masala, I thought to my self,
"Hmm, how come there is no site for me to find the scholars in my area? May be I should make one." Thats
right brother and sisters, originally this site was supposed to be ShaikhFinder.com. But then I thought, "Hey If i am going
through the trouble of creating an entire web application, I might as well add some more search options." After a few months
and endless hours of coding labor, there was the birth of Muslim Map! |
Eternal Question you will never face |
| Few days into the coding, I had to choose between the power of Google maps
vs the old age and wisdom of Yahoo Mapquest. Quite frankly, I choose to implement the Google API because
yahoo is sooo 90's. So, um, yeah, no drama there either. What did you expect? This is Muslimap,
not Gossip girl (xoxo). |

| Now lets get to the serious stuff. We wanted to be different in our approach about how
the data is presented to the average user. Thats why we indentified the goal of the user to be not browsing through
the site for entertainment, but rather finding the needed info, printing it, and being on their way.
Thats why our approach has been to let the user specify their area of interest, and then we draw a map around their specified location.
We also kept the amount of information we show to a smaller level, so that we show only what is pertinent to the user's search. |

central location in order to simplify and expedite the inquisitions of our users. |
